The boarding is a very essential need as students from all parts of the country educate themselves in this institution. The school hostel with its rules may make some students to feel tied up, yet there are parents who value the discipline of their children in the boarding.

Boarding school is a transformative experience in learning to live in a community where respect, discipline, personal growth, attaining academic excellence and exploration of priority.

Taking a lot of little steps towards maturity is one of the intangibles of attending the boarding school at S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela. You have to learn to get along with others because it is a community. You have to allow yourself to be teachable, guided, disciplined, be adoptable to structures laid out by the school, be considerate towards your peers whilst respecting your superiors and each other. Integrity and decency are of paramount importance.

The College boarding school involves a control of behaviour regarding several aspects of life, including what is appropriate and / or acceptable which as an adolescent you might consider as intrusive. The lessons in life learned in the boarding school will lay a solid foundation for adulthood. You learn to be responsible and accountable for your actions. At the College you are bound by a code of honour and discipline. Students are required to safeguard the honour and reputation of the College and of our predecessors.

The outlook of the teachers in the boarding school is not confined to just a job, but more of a vocation, where teachers become an important role model in each of their students’ lives.

At the College, students are provided a great opportunity to learn a number of life skills, have access to high-quality education, an abundance of programmes and sport activities able to acquire a high command of the English Language and develop good social skills. The hostels in the College is where you realize your true potential and success is celebrated.

I would like to mention that Govindu Sashmitha a boarder was able to get 9 A passes for his G.C.E. (O/L) 2021 without attending any private tuition classes.
